More than US$60 per barrel means everyone must start saving fuel!! There are cheap and practical ways to help save fuel :

Ensure tyre pressures are correct. Follow manufacturer's instructions. For Toyota Corolla, try up to 230N/M² for front and 220N/M² for rear, for better economy without sacrificing comfort.

Ensure engine is properly serviced at intervals, with good spark plugs fitted ( Iridium, Atomic, Etc ) and good oil. For Toyota Corolla, use light synthetic oil and service within 8000km interval for the VVTi engine.

Ensure air filter is clean. Standard air filters are already good enough. Exotic types such as K&N are for high performance races and may have practical problems in repeated daily use (oil contamination of air sensors). Replace air filter not more than 10,000km for Toyota Corolla.

Ensure Automatic transmission fluid is replaced after not more than 18,000km.

Drive at moderate speeds (80km/h) with moderate acceleration. It is proven a Corolla can achieve 600km with 40 litres of fuel, with EZ-Stab fitted and careful driving on the highway. Slowly depress the accelerator pedal, not step on it!

If possible, do not carry unnecessary loads. If driving within city, may consider not carrying spare tyres.

Never overtake unnecessarily or rush to destinations!

Use reasonable setting for air conditioning. Add lubricating oil for the compressor system even for new cars.

Use an EZ-STAB, proven on many cars :

Many Toyota/Nissan drivers found that, with EZ-Stab installed, they can achieve a fuel saving ranging from 5-10%. The reason being, with the EZ-Stab, the car computer can function much more efficiently!

How much can you save monthly if your petrol bill is $500?

[ 10% saving is $50 ] x 12months = $600 saved / year
[ 5% saving is $25 ] x 12months = $300 saved / year

Many in car forums report a variation of 3-10% savings! Do a search on all the car forums and Z-Stab/EZ-Stab for proof, example - http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/

As shown on the DYNO tests, the engine torque is greatly improved in the range of 1000-2500rpm. With a greater torque, the driver need not step on the accelerator much to get the car to move. Also, this is the useful range for city driving. The driver will find the car more nimble and easy to move.

From the range of 2500rpm to 3500rpm, the uneven torque curve is smoothened by the EZ-Stab. Without the EZ-Stab, the computer would tend to make the engine rev much higher before making a gear shift. This make the car very jerky and is wasting fuel because the gear change was made later. With the EZ-Stab, the car ECU or computer is making the gear shift at the correct timing, instead of dragging the engine.

From 4000rpm onwards, the engine delivers more power with the EZ-Stab. But for fuel economy, drivers are advised not to rev the engine to such range.

In layman's term, with EZ-Stab, driver can expect approximately $5 savings per tank (subjected to vehicle condition and driver's driving habits).
